Little Princess

On Friday afternoon when we were getting ready to go out to eat with my parents, Jenny asked me if she could wear makeup like me. She asks me this almost everytime she sees me put on makeup, and usually I say no. This time was a little different though because I told her she could.

Now, to me letting her wear makeup wouldn't be a very big deal, but I don't want her to one day think she needs to depend on makeup to make her pretty. I want her to see her natural beauty the way that I do, because she is very beautiful. I don't want her to grow up thinking that she'll only be pretty IF she wears makeup, or that she's already pretty but IF she had makeup she'd be prettier. I do believe in letting her have a little fun though, and so makeup every now and then isn't going to hurt her.

Anyway, here is the picture of her with makeup....

Afterwards she looked at herself in the mirror, and said that she looked like a princess. I'd have to say that I agree with her. To me, she looks just like a little princess....or maybe a future Miss America?? Ha! =)

Our Weekend

This weekend was a pretty regular one for our family. Friday night we went out to eat at Monterrey (our regular place) with my parents. We usually always go there every Friday with them. It's a fun and relaxing way to end a busy week. We always have a good time, and a lot of laughs with Aiden and Jenny around!

On Saturday morning we went to my mom's house and spent most of the day there. After we came home, the kids and I played for a while and then we baked a Butterfinger cake.

Jenny and her Mega-Block tower.

Aiden's mini-tower

Aiden decided to drink the water instead of putting it in the mix.

On Sunday, Jenny went back to her Mom's house and Aiden went to spend the night with Grandma. While they were gone, Jaime and I went on a little date to see THIS movie.....

For any of you who know me pretty well, you know that I have been waiting on this movie for a long time! I've already read all four books, and I own the first and second movies. I thought it was a great film, and deinitely the best of the saga so far!

 As you can tell we had a really great weekend, and we hope that you did too! =)

SUYL: Favorite Bible Verse

This week at Kelly's Korner, bloggers are sharing their favorite Bible verses. I have been thinking about this all day, and I feel compelled to participate. The problem is, I can't just pick one favorite. I have several, and even this list will not cover them all. The wonderful thing about the Word of God is that it is living, Holy Spirit-breathed truth that is always able to speak to a seeking heart in every circumstance.

Here are some of my favorite verses thus far in my life-journey....

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.
Honor one another above yourselves.
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Share with God's people who are in need.
Practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
Live in harmony with one another.
Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.
Do not be conceited.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil.
Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.
-Romans 12:9-17

Isn't this such a great verse!? That's the kind of Christian I strive to be.

Love this promise that reminds me over and over again of the new life I've been given in Jesus...
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
 - 2 Corinth. 5:17

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
- Ephesians 2:8-10

To me, this verse (Eph. 2:8-10) is such a relieveing one. Basically it is saying that we have been saved through our faith in God. To be saved there isn't anything we have to do except to believe and have faith. Isn't that amazing?? I am blown away just thinking about it! There aren't any special requirements other than just believeing! How great is our God?

Here are a few for when life gets though....

Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
For I am the Lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
- Isaiah 43:1b-3a

Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
- Isaiah 43:18-19

There are a lot more, of course, but these are just a few that are especially dear to me. What are some of your favorite verses?

Thanks for stopping by, Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!!

Fort Yargo

Today Jaime and I took the kids to the beach at Fort Yargo. We've been talking about going for a while, so we made plans to go today. It was our first time there, and I'm really glad that we went. I've only been to beaches on the ocean before, and never to one on a lake. I was afraid I'd be disappointed, but I wasn't disappointed at all! Yes, it was definitely different that what I had been to before, but it was still a lot of fun. Plus, I enjoy myself when I see that my kids are enjoying theirselves. If they're having fun, then I'm having fun too.

Fort Yargo Beach

At first Aiden wasn't too sure about the water, but he ended up really liking it (as long as his feet could touch the bottom)!

Jenny loved every minute of it, and wanted to go out in the water as deep as possible.

Playing in the sand.

Jaime buried Jenny in the sand.

        The picture on the left is of Jenny three years ago at Panama City Beach, she was 2 years old. The picture on the right is from today, she almost 5 (she'll be 5 August 30th).

After we came home we all had to take showers and baths to get all of the sand off our skin. The kids were very tired from their day in the sun and sand (especially Aiden) so they both went to bed early tonight. We had a really great day at the beach, and Jenny is already asking me when we will go back. Ha! We'll definitely have to go back soon!

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRANDMA!!

We love you!

Food+Family+Fireworks= A Good 4th of July!

This year for the Fourth of July we decided not to go to the firework shows that are put on by the city, but instead we chose to spend the evening at home as a family. After Jaime came home from work, he and I cooked steaks and italian sausage on the grill with baked potatoes, corn on the cob, baked beans, and a spinach salad. It was excellent, if I do say so myself. =)

While we cooked Aiden and Jenny played in the inflateable pool in our backyard. They splashed more water out of the pool than I've ever seen before, especially Jenny! She was trying so hard to swim and show us what she had learned at swimming lessons, that she splashed a lot of water out of the pool. Eventually I had to bring out some plastic cups of different sizes and a few strainers for them to play with so they would stop splashing so much. They had a great time, and didn't even want to get out to eat.

Jenny's swimming!

After we finished eating, we headed over to my cousin Vickie's house to swim in their inground pool and to watch them shoot off fireworks. It was a lot of fun, and I'm so glad we were able to at least see a few fireworks on Independence Day.

After we came home from their house, we put Aiden to bed (he was SUPER crabby) and Jenny, Jaime, and I made ice cream sundaes. They turned out really well, but Jenny needs more practice. She was a little slow with putting on the toppings so the ice cream was pretty melty by the time we ate them. They still tasted great though!

We had a great 4th of July, and we hope that you did too! We are really trying to enjoy our summer, especially with Jenny being in school now. Once school starts back, our time with her will be more limited, and we want to make sure we are soaking up every minute of time with her and Aiden. My babies are growing up faster than I can think, and we want to make sure we're taking advantage of every minute. Years from now there will be a Fourth of July where they want to go to their friends houses or to their boyfriend/girlfriend's houses. So for now, we are going to have plenty of fun with them while they still think we are "cool" enough to be around! Ha!

Pickles, Pickles, Pickles

A few days ago at lunch time Aiden had some oven roasted turkey breast, a piece of american cheese, a fairly big handful of blueberries, and a pickle. In case you didn't already know, Aiden loves pickles (he gets that from his Mama)! He ate most of his other food and just kept putting the pickle in his mouth but not actually eating it. A few minutes later I looked over, and this is what I saw.....

HAHAHAHA!!! So cute!
