Father Daughter Dance 2013

Jaime and Jenny went to the Girl Scout Father/Daughter Dance again this year. It is so much fun going out and picking out her dress and helping her get ready!! I hope they will continue this tradition for a long time.

GirlaPalooza at Six Flags!

This past Sunday, Jenny and I went to the Girl Scout event called GirlaPalooza. In honor of the 100th year of Girl Scouts, the event was held at Six Flags Over Georgia. I bought our tickets about a month ago. It was Jenny's first time at Six Flags, and her first opportunity to ride "grown up roller coasters". I was really hoping she would ride, and I am proud to say that she did! We rode The Georgia Cyclone twice and a water ride (I can't remember the name of it) twice. She did really good!! She panicked a little the first time, but she said she liked it and asked to ride again.

There was also a performance from Lindee Link, Savvy, and Matty B. all of whom are upcoming stars, but mostly famous on YouTube for now. Jenny was very excited to meet them! She got her picture made with Lindee Link and Matty B and also got Lindee Link's autograph. She was so nervous to meet them! She said it was like meeting Justin Beiber and Taylor Swift! Haha!

Corn Dawgs - Salute to Scouts 2012

Over the weekend, my mom and I took the kids to Corn Dawgs Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch for their annual Salute to Scouts event. Since Jenny is in Girl Scouts, we got a discount on admission and Jenny received a patch.

Aiden and Jenny both had a lot of fun, and we got a few cute pictures of them and Sophia too. It took us about an hour to find our way out of the corn maze, and that was after we had found a Boy Scout Troop who had a Corn Dawgs employee helping them find their way out. Haha! Regardless, the kids had a great time!

 

 

 

 

 

Skate Night

Last Sunday Jenny and I went to the Sparkles Skating Rink for the Girl Scout's 99th Birthday. Jenny has been skating a few times before, but never with me. I'm sure I would have probably already taken her, but since I don't know how to skate - I didn't know how I would go out on the rink and help her. One of the other moms in our Girl Scout troop told me last week that at this skating rink, they let the parents go out on the rink with their regular shoes on.

Jenny and I had a great time! At first she was a little nervous and only wanted to skate on the carpet. After a few minutes of skating around on the carpet, I took her out on the rink. She definitely needs more practice, but she did pretty good! She was holding my hand when we went around the rink the first time, but I told her that I think she does better if she doesn't hold onto me. So the second time we went around she only had to hold onto me for about 10-20 seconds at a time.

A lot of the other kids had purchased glow sticks and glow necklaces, so of course Jenny wanted one too. To motivate her, I told her that if she went around the rink one time without holding onto me, I would buy her a glow stick. She fell a couple times, but kept getting right back up and trying again. When we got back around to where we had started from, she was so excited! Then I told her that we had to go to the other side of the rink because that's where we had to buy the glow sticks. Haha!

She picked out a starfish glow necklace and a pacifier that lit up. After we bought them, we went back to the rink and she met up with one of the girls from our troop, Aliyah. Aliyah and Jenny went out on the rink together for a few minutes. I couldn't believe that Jenny went out on the rink without me! I was very impressed.

It started getting kind of late, and Jenny had school the next morning, so after that we had to leave. But we had a great time and I am so glad we went! We will definitely have to go back soon. Maybe next time we can take Aiden too!

Me & My Guy Dance

Here are a few pictures from the Me & My Guy dance that Jaime and Jenny went to. These pictures are of them before they left the house. Jaime didn't take the camera with him to the dance, so I don't have any pictures of the actual dance. They had a great time though, and it was good for them to spend some time together. After Jenny got ready, Aiden told her she looked like a princess.

Before they left, I asked them if they were excited about going to the dance. They both said they were excited, and nervous too. Jenny's response was, "I'm a little excited and a lot nervous". Haha! Not only do they look alike, they also act alike too. Jenny is like Jaime's mini me.  :)

Dress Shopping

This Saturday is the annual Me & My Guy Dance in Girl Scouts. It is something that they have done for years and years, because when I was in the Girl Scouts (which was at least 15 years ago), they were doing the dance then, too. Although at that time, it was the Father & Daughter Dance, but since times have changed, it is now known as The Me & My Guy Dance.

Jenny is very excited about the dance, and Jaime is too. I think it will be a great opportunity for the two of them to spend some time together! Plus, it will be a lot of fun for Jenny and Jaime, too.

Yesterday, Jaime, Aiden, Jenny, and I all went shopping for a dress for her to wear for the dance. We picked out a few different ones, and then headed to the dressing rooms. Jenny chose her the ones she liked best, and I chose a few that I liked best. Once we got to the dressing rooms, and looked at the price tags on a few of them, we put several of them back without even trying them on. Haha. They were pretty, but also were over $100, and I don't see the point in spending so much for a dress she'll wear once. Lucky for us, a few that we picked were on clearance and were $100 dresses on sale for $20!

This was the first dress Jenny tried on, and it was also her favorite choice (before trying on any of the others). The picture has really bad quality since I took it with my phone, but the dress is actually a nice shade of purple with black polka-dots.

This is the second dress she tried on, which was also my favorite. It is a brighter teal color than this picture shows, and would look better if she weren't leaning against the wall in this picture. :)





We had a pretty hard time finding a dress that would be warm. We shopped at Macy's and they already had a lot of Spring dresses out, and there wasn't a lot of Winter stuff left. Plus, most of the Winter dresses looked too much like Christmas dresses. We bought her a sweater to go over the dress we ended up buying. She and I are going shoe shopping tomorrow, and the dance is Saturday night.

Girl Scouts & MOPS

I am very excited to say that I am adding two new activities to my schedule, both starting next week...

First of all, I am going to be co-leading Jenny's Girl Scout troop with a few other ladies. I was in Girl Scouts when I was a kid, but other than that I have no experience doing anything like this. I already finished my online training and I have to go to a leader meeting next week. I am really looking forward to this opportunity though, I think it will be a great experience for both Jenny and I.

Also, I joined MOPS! For those of you who don't know, MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. I am going to be attending the MOPS program at the Northview Christian Church. We will meet twice a month, on Thursdays. There will be lots of crafts and activities for Aiden to participate in, and for me there will be group speakers, crafts, group discussions, and other moms to interact and make friends with. This is something that I have been wanting to join since I heard about it for the first time last year. I am really excited about this, and I can't wait till our first meeting next Thursday!!
