Happy Friday!

We are having a pretty relaxed Friday so far. We spent the day out at the pool soaking up the sun shine. As usual, I put sunscreen on the kids but forgot to put it on myself. But hey, at least they didn't get burned! I did, but so far it isn't too bad. One of these days I will remember to put it on myself, too.

Yesterday Jaime and I took the kids to the playground in our complex. We went in the evening just before dark since it has been so hot here lately. We have had 13 days in a row with temperatures above 90 and no rain. Hotlanta has been hot!

My mom and I took the kids to Steak n' Shake for dinner tonight. A milkshake was just what we needed on such a hot day. Now the kids are catching lightning bugs and playing in my parents' back yard. :)

Happy Friday everyone, have a great weekend!

Our Weekend

Am I the only one who feels like the weekends always go by too fast? It seems like you wait all week for Friday to get here, and then once it does, it's already Monday again. We had another good weekend here. Not too busy, but not too boring. In my opinion, those are the best kind. :)

Friday night, the kids and I went out to dinner with my parents to our usual Friday night place, Monterrey. Aiden always does really well there, and he likes the food too. Sometimes when I ask him what he wants to eat, he'll tell me he wants Monterrey. Haha!

When we got home, Jenny and I used her Easy Bake Oven for the first time. Uncle Billy got it for her for Christmas, but I didn't have the right kind of light bulb for it, so we couldn't use it right away. She liked using it, and it was easy for her to do. She was very impressed with the way the cake turned out. :)

My little Daisy Scout is selling Girl Scout Cookies this year! Her goal was to sell 75 boxes to get her Girl Scout Cookie patch. Saturday we went door to door to a few houses in my parent's neighborhood and we sold to a few more family and friends. She liked selling door to door more than I thought she would, and was a little upset when it was time to stop.

Saturday night, the kids and I baked some brownies in the real oven. Jenny added all the ingredients by herself and she mixed it all up too. She is really getting good at baking! The brownies turned out really well. Jenny went to her mom's house today so I sent some of them with her, and I also gave some to my parents. I don't have enough self control to have an entire pan of brownies sitting in my kitchen. Since I am the only adult here who likes sweets, I would end up eating way to many! Haha.

Today we didn't do a whole lot. The kids and I spent the morning cleaning the house and doing laundry. I prepared a few things for tomorrow's Girl Scout meeting, and got ready for the upcoming week. My mom kept Aiden for a few hours for us tonight while Jaime and I went out to dinner at Applebee's and then went to see a movie. We saw, "No Strings Attached" with Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher. I liked it, and so did Jaime. It was a little cheesy at times, but was also pretty funny and had a good ending. If you're looking for a good movie, I'd recommend that one.

I think that's it from this weekend. I hope you all had a great weekend too! =)

Ted the Bear

Guess who showed up at our house this weekend!.....

Ted the Bear!!

Ted is Jenny's class bear. Every weekend her teacher picks a student who gets to take the bear home for the weekend. Trust me when I say that Jenny has been waiting to bring this bear home ever since her first day of kindergarten! Every Friday morning she'll be so excited to go to school in hopes of taking the bear home. Every Friday afternoon (up until this past Friday) has always been so sad because she comes home without it. This past Friday though, the look on her face when she got off the bus was PRICELESS! If I had known she was bringing him home, I would have taken pictures. She was more excited than I have ever seen her about anything. Since then, Jenny has hardly put Ted down! He has gone with us everywhere, he sleeps with her, she took him out to eat with us, he is literally with us all the time.

See what I mean?

I know she is going to be so heartbroken tomorrow when I won't let her bring him to church with us. But I don't want anything to happen to him there, or for us to forget to bring him home. Tomorrow we have to write a story about the Ted's weekend at our house. Along with Ted, she was also sent home a binder with all the stories from the previous weekends that Ted has spent at the other kid's homes. Tomorrow it will be our turn to add our story to his Adventure Book.

A Wonderful Sunday

We had a pretty good 3-day weekend. How was yours? Actually, ours is more like a 4-day weekend because Jaime is off tomorrow too. The kids and I always enjoy having him home with us. Plus, he helps me get a lot of stuff done around that house that I normally wouldn't have the time or patience to do with an almost-two year old running around!

Sundays are usually pretty relaxing days for us. Jaime works during the day, so the kids and I sit around the house most Sundays and watch movies and TV. Sometimes, if the weather allows, we go outside and play. A lot of Sundays though I spend most of my morning cleaning house. I know I should go to church, and I really want to go to church too. I've gone several times before and I always enjoy it and feel so refreshed and filled with God's Word after the service. The problem is, now that Aiden is home with me all the time, he hates being left in the nursery at church. In fact, 9 out of 10 times they call me out of the service early to come get him because they can't calm him down. Once I pick him up he's fine, so I know it's not that he's hurt or has anything wrong with him - he just wants his Mama. Most of the time, I love that he is so attatched to me. But then there are times (like at church) when I wish he weren't so attached so that he would go play with the other kids and have a good time while I enjoy the church service. Thankfully, he seems to be getting over his seperation anxiety lately. When we go to MOPS he cries when I drop him off, but when I come back to get him he's absolutely fine! No crying, no whining, no nothing. He's usually sitting at the table eating a snack or coloring a picture. So, yesterday Aiden and I went to the church service at the church where I go to MOPS (I was going to Free Chapel for Wed. and Sun. service, MOPS is at Northview). And guess what?? Aiden loved it! I was able to listen to the whole service and they didn't come to get me at all! I'm not sure why this church seems to be working better for him, but I'm glad it is! I think it's because at Free Chapel there are TONS of people so it tends to be a little stressful trying to get him to his class, and there are about 10 other kids in his class with him. At Northview, there are a lot less people and only about 5 kids in his class. If that's not the reason, then maybe he is starting to outgrow his seperation anxiety and is getting to an age where he knows I'm just leaving him for a little while and I'll be back. Either way, I'm happy and so is he! We will definitely be going back this weekend!

After Jaime got home from work Jenny's mom dropped her off with us (Jenny spends a week at her mom's house and then spends a week at our house). When she got here, Jenny had a tummy ache but thankfully she started to feel better soon. Once she started feeling better Jaime and I took the kids to the park. Sunday is Jaime's day to go play soccer with his friends, and while we're there watching the game I take the kids to the playground. We all had a great time, and Jaime's team won their game! Here are a few pictures I took from the game, and a few of the kids on the playground.

After the game, Jaime and I took the kids to Walmart. Jenny got to pick out something for herself for doing such a great job on her spelling test. Her test was over the words she has been learning for the past 9 weeks. There were 43 words total, and out of 43 she got 41 correct. Can you guess what she picked?? My most favorite Disney movie of all time, and I'm pretty sure it is her favorite now too.... Beauty and the Beast!

When we got home we watched the movie together and then had a "sleepover" with Jenny and Aiden in our bed. Obviously we had a wonderful weeked! I hope you all had a great weekend too!

Our Weekend

This weekend was a pretty regular one for our family. Friday night we went out to eat at Monterrey (our regular place) with my parents. We usually always go there every Friday with them. It's a fun and relaxing way to end a busy week. We always have a good time, and a lot of laughs with Aiden and Jenny around!

On Saturday morning we went to my mom's house and spent most of the day there. After we came home, the kids and I played for a while and then we baked a Butterfinger cake.

Jenny and her Mega-Block tower.

Aiden's mini-tower

Aiden decided to drink the water instead of putting it in the mix.

On Sunday, Jenny went back to her Mom's house and Aiden went to spend the night with Grandma. While they were gone, Jaime and I went on a little date to see THIS movie.....

For any of you who know me pretty well, you know that I have been waiting on this movie for a long time! I've already read all four books, and I own the first and second movies. I thought it was a great film, and deinitely the best of the saga so far!

As you can tell we had a really great weekend, and we hope that you did too! =)
