Gulf Shores - 2012

The kids and I went with my Mom to Gulf Shores, Alabama for Labor Day Weekend. My cousin was getting married on the beach there that weekend, which was why we went. It was a lot of fun, the wedding was BEAUTIFUL, and it was a relaxing mini-vacation.
This was Aiden and Sophia's first trip to the ocean. Aiden had been to the beach on a lake before, but never to the ocean. He loved the waves, seashells, and the sand. He had a blast! We didn't stay on the beach very long as it was too hot for Sophia to be out there long. The kids still loved it! The house we stayed at had a pool, so we spent a lot of time in the pool instead.
We ate good food, collected seashells, played in the sand and waves, hung out in the pool, spent time with family and welcomed a new person into our family as well. It was a wonderful weekend!
Here are some pictures....

Lake Lanier

Yesterday Jaime, the kids, and I loaded up bags of snacks, a cooler with drinks, and our beach stuff and headed to Lake Lanier to the beach. Since there are only three weeks of summer left, we are trying to make the most of what time we have left before school starts.

Aiden and Jenny were feeding these ducks some pretzels. Jenny would throw the pretzels to the ducks, but Aiden just chased them around trying to give the pretzels to them. Haha!

Jenny was so afraid the ducks were going to bite Aiden. Aiden chased the ducks, and Jenny chased Aiden trying to get him to stop.

Eating a popsicle.

Jenny and her mud beard.

Aiden's beard.

There were lots of jet skis in the water which caused waves, and made the sand under the water look really cool. Jenny kept saying we were at the ocean instead of the lake because there were waves. Too bad the waves weren't nearly as big as waves in the ocean.  :)

A Trip to the Lake

Last Thursday, Jaime and I took the kids back to Fort Yargo National Park to the lake and beach they have there. We went once before, and wanted to go back before Jenny started Kindergarten.

Just like last time, we had lot of fun and really enjoyed ourselves. We went a little later in the day this time, and it ended up being more shaded and a little cooler than the time before. Before we got there we stopped to pick up some bottled water and snacks. We also got Aiden and Jenny a few beach toys to play with.

She asked to be buried, so Jaime and I buried her.

All Aiden wanted for snack was a sucker. Ha!

We buried him too.

Fort Yargo

Today Jaime and I took the kids to the beach at Fort Yargo. We've been talking about going for a while, so we made plans to go today. It was our first time there, and I'm really glad that we went. I've only been to beaches on the ocean before, and never to one on a lake. I was afraid I'd be disappointed, but I wasn't disappointed at all! Yes, it was definitely different that what I had been to before, but it was still a lot of fun. Plus, I enjoy myself when I see that my kids are enjoying theirselves. If they're having fun, then I'm having fun too.

Fort Yargo Beach

At first Aiden wasn't too sure about the water, but he ended up really liking it (as long as his feet could touch the bottom)!

Jenny loved every minute of it, and wanted to go out in the water as deep as possible.

Playing in the sand.

Jaime buried Jenny in the sand.

The picture on the left is of Jenny three years ago at Panama City Beach, she was 2 years old. The picture on the right is from today, she almost 5 (she'll be 5 August 30th).

After we came home we all had to take showers and baths to get all of the sand off our skin. The kids were very tired from their day in the sun and sand (especially Aiden) so they both went to bed early tonight. We had a really great day at the beach, and Jenny is already asking me when we will go back. Ha! We'll definitely have to go back soon!
