Valentine's Day 2013

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day! I never know if it is spelt Valentine's with the apostrophe, or if it's just Valentines. Oh well, you all know what I mean.

Our Valentine's Day was so much fun! Jaime and I always get the kids a little something to recognize the day, and he and I usually have a nice dinner at home after the kids go to bed. This year, Jaime had to work a double shift on Valentine's Day, so it was just the kids and I for most of the day.

A few days before Valentine's Day, I helped Jenny and Aiden with their Valentines for their friends. Jenny chose Fun Dip Valentine cards, and Aiden chose Power Rangers Samurai. Jenny took her's to her friends in her class at school, and Aiden took his to his friend's in his class at Awana. Aiden even wrote his own name on a few of his! After writing his name on the first two, he said his hand was too tired and I had to finish the rest. At least he tried, and I thought his handwriting was very legible for someone who hasn't even started school yet!

On the morning of Valentine's Day, the kids woke up to a table decked out in Valentine decorations, and a few treats for each of them. We have never done a Valentine's breakfast before, but I have seen other people who do it, and I always thought it would be fun. So, this was our first year doing it, but I think it is going to be our new tradition. We had red pancakes and eggs, and each of the kids received a stuffed animal, chocolate (Sophia got cookies), and a balloon.

Keeping with tradition, we made our annual Valentine's cupcakes! This was probably my last year making them with just Jenny and Aiden. Next year Sophia will be almost two, and I'm sure she will want to help!

Aiden even made Jaime and I a little Valentine at Awana the night before!

It's strange how years ago my Valentine's Day was spent out on a date, maybe out to dinner and a movie, and we spent all of our money on gifts for each other. Now, here we are, six years and three kids later, and our Valentine's Days are spent with the kids making memories! Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way! I am thankful for a husband who understands that and who agrees that making memories with our children is more important than any gift he and I could ever buy each other. I am thankful for a husband who makes me feel loved and adored every day, not just Valentine's Day.

Valentines 2012

Happy Valentines Day!!

Jenny before school this morning, all ready for Valentines Day!

Jenny's Valentines to exchange with her classmates. She and I worked on them last night. She also picked out some York Peppermint Patties that are taped to the back of each Valentine.

Aiden also dressed up for Valentines Day! He was not too happy about having his picture taken though. I may or may not have bribed him with some chocolate to get him to smile for this picture. Haha! He and I are going to make Valentine cupcakes today! Jenny will get to help us decorate them today after Girl Scouts.

We hope you all have a great Valentine's Day!

Valentines Day 2011

We had a great Valentines Day! Instead of having one Valentine, I get to have 3! Jaime, Jenny, and Aiden all either asked me to be their Valentine, or agreed to be mine. Haha. We started the day off early before Jenny went to school by giving the kids their Valentine gifts from Jaime and I.

They each got a balloon, a stuffed animal, a box of chocolates, and a Valentine shirt. I forgot to get a picture of Jenny in her Valentine shirt, I didn't have time to get it before she left for school. Her shirt was cute though, and she got to wear her "high heels" to school.

Aiden's stuffed giraffe and box of chocolates.

Jennys stuffed love bug and box of chocolates.

You can kind of see Jenny's Valentine shirt in this picture.

Aiden's Valentine shirt said, "Eligable Bachelor"

Our Valentine note for Daddy. Jenny drew the stuff in blue, and Aiden did the stuff in orange.

That night, after the kids went to bed, Jaime cooked me dinner and we gave each other our gifts. He cooked chicken linguine alfredo. Yum! We hope you had a great Valentines Day!!

Valentine Cards

This year Jenny and I worked on her Valentine cards for her class at school. She picked out the cards that had puppies and kittens on them. We also bought some little Snickers candy bars to tape to the cards for her friends at school. She had to make 19 cards, and also had to write all her friends' names on the cards by herself. She took her job very seriously, and the cards turned out great!

Valentines Day

This year I cooked Valentines Dinner. It's better than going out to eat, you don't have to wait in the long lines and I think it's just nicer when you do it at home.
Our menu included: firery shrimp cocktail, t-bone steaks, creamy spinach, green onion fritters, and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. Jaime took Aiden with him to Walmart so I was able to cook and get everything ready. When they came back, Aiden went to bed, and Jaime and I were able to enjoy a nice quiet dinner at home. The food was great, and Jaime even went so far as to say it was the best meal he'd ever had! I'm not sure if I believe that, but the food was good.
I only took one picture that night, and I used my phone to do it (so the quality is horrible). It's a picture of the table set up from that evening.

Overall Jaime and I had a great night. He picked out the perfect gift for me! I was very impressed at how well he has been paying attention to what I've mentioned I'd like to have. He is a good man! I am very lucky!
