Valentines Day

This year I cooked Valentines Dinner. It's better than going out to eat, you don't have to wait in the long lines and I think it's just nicer when you do it at home.
Our menu included: firery shrimp cocktail, t-bone steaks, creamy spinach, green onion fritters, and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. Jaime took Aiden with him to Walmart so I was able to cook and get everything ready. When they came back, Aiden went to bed, and Jaime and I were able to enjoy a nice quiet dinner at home. The food was great, and Jaime even went so far as to say it was the best meal he'd ever had! I'm not sure if I believe that, but the food was good.
I only took one picture that night, and I used my phone to do it (so the quality is horrible). It's a picture of the table set up from that evening.

Overall Jaime and I had a great night. He picked out the perfect gift for me! I was very impressed at how well he has been paying attention to what I've mentioned I'd like to have. He is a good man! I am very lucky!

14 Months Old!

Yep, that's right! Aiden is 14 months old now. Wow, how time has flown!! Aiden is definitely a little comedian, and a big mama's boy! Oh, and he's gonna be a motor mouth! =) He has really become very interested in learning to talk, and often he tries to say what he hears other people saying. I can't wait for the day when he can say 'I love you'! We've already started working on that one...

What is Aiden up to these days?

  • He loves to sing and dance!

  • He loves being outside!

  • He loves going to the park - the slide is his favorite!

  • He still enjoys bath time!

  • He has 12 teeth, and 4 more coming in!

  • We have started brushing his teeth this month.

  • He still takes a bottle at nap and bedtime, but he's been able to drink out of a sippy cup for a while. We are gonna work on that this month!

  • Words he knows: Katie, Daddy, Jenny, hey, hello, ball, baba (bottle), up, hot dog, uh-oh, oh wow, night-night, bye-bye. I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them all!
Happy 14 month birthday Aiden! We love you!

Heavy Heart

My heart aches as I continue watching the coverage of this tragic earthquake. I immediately think of the children who depend on their parents that might now be dead, the disabled who may not have the ability to walk or escape the rubble that has toppled onto them, the fear of those who do not know how they will eat or where they will live, those who are alone still trapped. I feel like crying.

Tonight I pray for them.

Where are my keys??

So, for Christmas, Santa brought Aiden a 'Playskool Busy Ball Popper'. He absolutely loves putting the balls in and watching them pop back out again. In fact, his favorite part is putting the balls inside. I think he really feels like that is where the balls are supposed to be, and after he gets them all inside he'll clap his hands and smile as if he fixed the broken toy! The only problem is, he thinks that he can put ANYTHING he gets his hands on into the Ball Popper. Recently, anything that goes missing at our house can usually be found inside of the Ball Popper. We've found keys, magnets, pencils & pens, and lots of other small items! Luckily, they have all been easily retrieved, and the toy is still working.

Happy New Year!

Unfortunetly we spent New Year's in the emergency room this year. Jaime burned his face and shoulder at work on New Year's Eve, so we were in the hosital at midnight. No worries, he is recovering well and you can hardly tell he was ever burned! It's amazing, he heals incredibly fast! Happy New Year!

Christmas Eve & Christmas Day

Christmas Eve we got together with my family to exchange gifts and eat dinner. Jaime and David made tamales with rice and beans.....YUMMY!

Aiden and Grandpa. Aiden has his own personal Santa! =)
Jenny's coloring set from David.

Aiden's basketball goal from Uncle Billy and Aunt Haylie.

Santa came!

Sharing. How nice! =) I wish they did this all the time.
Jenny got an easel from Santa. She likes pretending to be the teacher!
As you can see, we had an AMAZING Christmas. God has truly blessed our family.

Christmas Festivities

Every year, we take the children to see Santa Clause. This year, since Jenny started school, she and I made her Christmas list to give to Santa. She was very excited. Aiden was too little to be excited, but he didn't cry or get upset. That makes two years in a row with no tears during the Santa picture!

This year putting up Christmas decorations was much more difficult. Jenny was a BIG help, but all Aiden wanted to do was climb in and on top of the boxes, and play with and break ornaments. Finally, we were able to get it all up. We even decided to put decorations on the outside of the house this year!
