Sweet Summer Time

We are only a few weeks into summer vacation and so far we have been having a lot of fun! It is so nice spending our days by the pool, relaxing and having fun. Jenny has had a few friends over to spend the night, which is a lot of fun for her.

We've gone swimming several times....

Played in an indoor playground....

We've rode the helicoptor ride at the mall....

We've worn hats...

Last week we took the kids to Stone Mountain for the Laser Show and then the next day we went to the movie theatres to see Madagascar 3. Father's Day is also this weekend, so the kids and I have been working on a craft and a few other ideas and plans. It is really fun to watch them try to keep a secret from their Daddy. Jenny is pretty good at keeping a secret, but Aiden has already almost blurted it out a few times. Hopefully he can hold it in until Sunday! They are both so excited to give Jaime his gift.

So far our summer has been pretty awesome!

Sophia is Two Months Old!

Sophia, you are two months old!! I am not sure how that happened because it seems like we just came home from the hospital last week! Each month seems to go by faster than the last. It is so hard to believe you are already two months old. You have changed so much this month, you hardly look the same as you did a month ago.

I think it is safe to say that you are sleeping trough the night! You usually go to bed between 9-10pm, and wake up between 8-9am. Occasionally you will wake up earlier, around 6am, but most nights you go straight through till at least 8am or so. It works out really well because your big brother also usually wakes up around that time. You also take several good naps during the day. You are a great sleeper!

You are eating 5oz of formula every four hours or so. I give you a teaspoon of rice cereal in your bedtime bottle each night.

You are the happiest baby! You usually only cry when you are hungry. You don't mind riding in your carseat, which is good because with two older siblings, we are on the go a lot! We took you to the Laser Show at Stone Mountain last week, and to the movies to see Madagascar 3. You did great at both places! It is so nice to have a baby who I can take everywhere and not have to worry about it being a disaster. I'm sure I won't always be able to say that! Haha!

You are smiling more and more now! You have the sweetest little smile. Jenny and Aiden both love making you smile. You are also starting to coo and make little noises. You don't realize you are making the noises yet, but you have the cutest little "voice".

You aren't crazy about the swing yet, but I am still hopeful that you will like it soon. Your big brother loved the swing when he was little, but you aren't so sure yet. You also love bath time! You just love to let me put your head under the faucet to rinse the shampoo out. With all that hair, it's about the only way I can make sure I rinse it well.

You had your two month check up and you had to get 3 shots. :( You cried, and so did your big brother and sister. They were upset because you were upset. You weigh 9lbs 14oz and you are 22 1/4 inches long. You are wearing size 0-3 month and 3 month clothes. You are still wearing a newborn diaper, but that's only because I am trying to finish using the few I have left. We are down to about 5 newborn diapers, and then you will be in a size one.

You are such a joy! We all love you so much and are so thankful for you. You are our "Sophie Girl"!

The Awana Awards Ceremony

Jenny and Aiden participated in the Awana Awards Ceremony this year. It was Jenny's second year participating, and Aiden's first. Jenny is in the group called Sparks and Aiden's group is called Puggles.

The awards ceremony was so cute! Aiden's group sang a few songs, and they both received certificates for their participation in the program this year. Jenny also received a ribbon for completing her first Spark handbook.

It was so much fun seeing them both up there on the stage this year! Aiden's group went first since they are the youngest. They sang three songs, and then received their certificates. Next year Aiden will move up to the Cubbies. He'll get a Cubbies vest and handbook. He'll also have to start memorizing the Bible verses in his handbook each week.

Jenny's group didn't sing any songs, but she received a certificate and a ribbon. She will be in Sparks again next year since it is for kindergarten through second grade. She is in the middle of her second handbook - there are a total of three handbooks for Sparks.

Last Day of First Grade

Well, school has officially ended for Jenny. She is no longer a first grader, and is officially in the second grade! The time goes by faster every year, and it is getting harder and harder to believe how quickly she (and all of our children) are growing up!

Here is Jenny on her first day of the first grade (August 2011)....

And now, on her last day of first grade (May 2012)....

Congratulations, Jenny, for completing the first grade! Your Daddy and I are so proud of all that you have accomplished this year. You are quickly becoming a wonderful little lady! We are looking forward to all of the fun things we will do this summer! We love you to the moon and back!

6 Weeks Old!

Sophia, you are 6 weeks old today!

You have definitely become much more alert in the last week or so. You are staying awake for longer periods of time, too. You are getting really close to smiling, and you will occasionally grin at me a little.

We took our first trip to Alabama over the weekend. You are a great car rider! You slept the majority of the way there. We stopped once to feed you. On the way back you got a little fussy during the last 30 minutes of the trip, but I don't blame you! You had been in your carseat for over 5 hours at that point.

You also had your first bottle mixed with rice cereal last night. It was a 4oz bottle with a 1/2 teaspoon of rice cereal. So far you seem to be tolerating the cereal well. We gave it to you around 10:30pm, and you slept through till 6:00am! I'll probably post more about our daily schedule when I do your 2 month post.

You are really starting to enjoy looking at people. When someone holds you you love to stare at their face. You are also starting to recognize your Daddy and I.

It has been so much fun watching you grow and change over the past 6 weeks. We love you so much!

Sophia is One Month Old!

Sophia, you are one month old!!

How has the last month gone by so quickly? You have already changed so much. It has been so fun just getting to know you. You already have such a sweet personality.

You are a good sleeper. You usually go to bed between 9-10pm, and wake up once to eat around 5am. After you eat, you go back to sleep and sleep until around 9:00am. Right now your daddy and I rotate nights getting up with you.

You are eating really well too. You are eating 4oz. of formula every four hours. Occasionally you will take a little more than 4oz. and I can tell that you'll be eating 5oz. soon. Aiden started getting rice cereal in his nighttime bottle around 6 weeks old, so I might start that with you soon too.

You had your first sleepover at Grandma's house this month! Your big brother was pretty jealous. Your Daddy and I missed you while you were gone, but it was nice to get a full night's sleep. Plus, I know you and Grandma enjoyed the bonding time together.

At your two week doctor appointment you weighed 7lbs 7oz (4oz up from your birth weight). You were also 19.5 inches long (.5 inches up from your birth length). You go back to the doctor when you are two months old.

You are getting so close to smiling! You smile a lot in your sleep, and you have smiled randomly when you are awake. It won't be too much longer though before you start smiling at us! You have such a pretty smile, I can't wait to see it more often!

A few nights ago you laughed out loud in your sleep. It was the cutest thing! It scared your Daddy and I because it was totally unexpected.

We are still undecided as to what color your eyes are. We were thinking brown, but sometimes they look green. They don't seem to be as dark as Aiden's or Jenny's. Your Daddy was just telling me today that he doesn't think your eyes are brown. They're more of a hazel color, inbetween brown and green. We'll just have to wait and see!

You love to be held and you love to be talked and sang to. You are so alert, and really seem to be listening when someone is talking or singing to you.

I'm pretty sure you are going to be a Daddy's Girl! He already spoils you, and adores you so much. You usually start out sleeping in your crib (which is in our room) every night, but somehow always end up in our bed. I'm pretty sure I know who is putting you there! ;)

Your big brother and sister both love you so much! Aiden has had a hard time remembering to be gentle with you, but he is getting better. He loves talking to you and showing you all of the cool things he can do. He also likes to make funny faces at you. Sometimes he says you made a funny face back at him. Jenny has already been such a big help with you! She is really good at talking to you and keeping you calm while I make you a bottle. She wants me to bring you to meet all of her friends. There are only two weeks of school left, so we will have to take you to eat lunch with Jenny soon.

You are such a joy, and have been the perfect addition to our family! We love you so much!
